Lydia Azout Presents “Thresholds”

The shapes, color, texture, weight, and often ambitious dimensions of Lydia Azout’s works lend them a dynamism that is perfectly discernible visually and is closely related to forces such as gravity and magnetism, which are recognized as the driving forces behind everything that happens in the universe. Consequently, her work is also closely linked to the power and meanings of sacred geometry, as it draws on the profound connection that prevails in all that exists.

Some of these works, which can be transposed, invite us to explore them by evoking the passage of time and the stages of life, until we reach a certain point beyond which another dimension begins. But their circumferences—those sharp, infinite curves that vary in size but not in meaning—lead us to draw parallels with everything that has no beginning and no end, such as the Big Bang.
