LIDYA AZOUT presents the exhibition “Reflections… Now” at Dot FiftyOne Gallery
LYDIA AZOUT
Poetic Intensity, Myth, and Rituality
-BY DENNYS MATOS Special Feature/El Nuevo Herald
At 84, Lydia Azout (Bogotá, 1942) maintains an unflagging artistic output. The exhibition “Reflections… Now,” 2026, continues her increasingly prominent presence on the international contemporary art scene. Her work is represented in major museums, collections, and highly prestigious public and private art institutions throughout Latin America, as well as in the United States and Europe. This exhibition serves as a small retrospective, considering that it features works from 1999 through 2025. It offers a condensed overview of more than 20 years of her career, spanning a period during which her work—particularly her sculpture—has been marked by great dynamism. On view are photographs (the “Tempestad” series, 2025), but above all, object-based sculptures such as “Star Flower” and “Cosmic Wave#1,” both from 2011, or “Solar Guardian” and “Umbral,” both from 1999.
